MACEDON. Koinon of Macedon. Pseudo-autonomous issue, 3rd century AD. (Bronze, 27 mm, 11.90 g, 2 h), AΛEΞANΔΡOΥ Head of Alexander to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with griffin. Rev. ΚΟΙΝΟΝ MAKEΔΟΝΩΝ .ΝΕΩΚ. Two prize urns, each with a palm, on table; amphora below; above, retrograde B (2nd neokoria). AMNG 134 var. SNG Copenhagen 1367 var. Same obv. die as Pegasi 34 lot 314. A spectacular example with a powerful post-mortem depiction of Alexander III. Very fine.
